Interviews

During my social media internship at Papelpop Entertainment Website I had the opportunity to interview some international artists and ask them about their current projects. Thankfully, my journey as an entertainment reporter continues as a freelancer for Papelpop and as a contributor writer for Harper's Bazaar Brazil.

Some of my interviews and translated written pieces can be found below.

Leos Carax for Harper's Bazaar Brazil// November 2021

For Harper's Bazaar Brazil's 2021 November issue, I was asked to interview French director Leos Carax about “Annette”, starring Adam Driver and Marion Cotillard. The digital version of the published magazine can be downloaded for free on the Harper's Bazaar app.

Netflix's Julie and the Phantoms • Madison Reyes & Kenny Ortega Interview

To interview a creator such as Kenny Ortega, who has made a great impact in my life with most of his works, is still a dream I hope I never get to wake up from. I had the chance to talk to him about his work on Netflix's YA show “Julie and the Phantoms”, and also learn more about the star of the show herself: Madison Reyes.

Henry Golding "Snake Eyes” Interview // April 2021

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series Interview // April 2021

Listen up, Wildcats! The second season of the High School Musical inspired Disney+ series is out now and so were my nerves when I, a fan of the show, got to chat with some of its phenomenal cast!

James Arthur Interview // March 2021

With his new single “Medicine” out, James Arthur and I got to talk about it, as well as his new album development process. He also shared insights about mental health during these challenging times, and what he has been doing during UK's lockdown – spoiler alert: my Brazilian self was really pleased with his response!

Zara Larson Interview // March 2021

Zara's pop-disco album “Poster Girl” is out and so are her thoughts on its production – especially about its creative process, since the project's creative director openly body shammed her just a few days after its release. Zara didn't hold back and said it all on how his participation and work were non-existent, and all of the album's visuals are ought to be credited to her and a couple of friends. Yes, Zara! YES! The 23-year-old artist took then the opportunity to share about her self acceptance journey and what it means to be a woman in the music industry.

Jon Batiste Interview // February 2021

Talented, funny and unique. That would be my answer if someone asked me to describe Jon Batiste in three words. One of the genius minds behind the Oscar nominee for best Animated Feature Film with Disney's breathtaking “Soul", Jon and I talked not only about its long and rewarding development process, but also all about his new album “We Are”. With unexpected musical breaks during our conversation, Jon made it too easy for me to get comfortable and try to get more details on his production of the musical about Jean-Michel Basquiat's life.

Interview with HBO’s “Fake Famous” Documentary director, Nick Bilton for Harper's Bazaar Brasil // February 2021

For Harper's Bazaar Brazil's February online issue, I was asked to review and interview HBO's “Fake Famous” documentary director Nick Bilton.

Lauren Jauregui Interview // January 2021

While we're still waiting in anticipation for her debut album, Lauren Jauregui did not disappoint when explaining her reasons on taking so long to release it. With her hit song “Lento”, that had just gotten a remix with Brazil's favorite drag queen and singer Pabllo Vittar, Lauren told us all about their relationship as well as love for her fans, lessons from the past, and how politics is a subject that she will never stop herself from talking and expressing her thoughts about.

Jamie Lorente Interview for Harper's Bazaar Brasil// December 2020

For Harper's Bazaar Brazil's December issue, I was asked to interview Spanish actor Jamie Lorente about his new Amazon Prime Video Original series, “El Cid”. The digital version of the published magazine can be downloaded for free on the Harper's Bazaar app.

Keith Urban Interview // November 2020

Keith Urban is said to be one of the nicest guys in the music industry, and after our 10-minute talk, I have no choice but to agree. We talked about his album “The Speed Of Now", life during the pandemic, Brazilian country music, and of course I wouldn't pass the opportunity to fangirl with him about Pink – his collaborator on the single “One To Many”.

Bebe Rexha Interview // November 2020

With her single “Baby I'm Jealous” out, Bebe Rexha told me all about it – from its music video to collaborating with Doja Cat.

James Bay Interview // October 2020

James Bay's new record “Chew On My Heart” introduces the artist's new phase, which is made of more personal lyrics and carefree visuals. During our fun conversation, James made sure to say it all about exploring different sounds with his music and how an artist should always feel free to do so. Some of his inspirations? Lady Gaga and Katy Perry. Honestly, how can you not love this guy?!

Bastille - Dan Smith Interview // October 2020

Interviewing a musician such as Dan Smith is one of those rewarding moments as a reporter where the interviewee is not only engaged, but excited to give you detailed answers that end up making the whole moment more of a conversation than anything else. As a cinephile, Dan also made sure to share his thoughts and plans on how he would like to keep making the band's music video as short films, and how that pushes him as a creator. Oh, and let it be known that my last question was the reason why this interview ended up being 5 minutes longer than it should've been – I guess more time is needed when asking a musician (who happens to be a film enthusiast) what movie soundtrack he would've liked to be a part of.

Conan Grey Interview // August 2020

With heartfelt lyrics, Conan Grey's debut album “Kid Krow” is a rollercoaster of emotions and stories that the singer doesn't stop himself from experiencing and sharing with his audience. Lucky us! I had the chance to talk to him not only about that but also on how he is dealing with the growth of his career during a global pandemic, plans for the future and of course, I let him fangirl about his two idols and inspirations: Lorde and Taylor Swift.

Little Mix // March 2020

On their highly anticipated visit to Brazil, I had the chance to interview half of the incredible British girl group Little Mix, and talk to them about it. Leigh-Anne and Jade Thirlwall were just as excited as I was about their first experience with Brazilian fans and I couldn't be happier about this interview!

Angela Bassett and Hailee Steinfeld // December 2018

In December 2018, I was asked to participate in the Bumblebee film junket in Los Angeles, CA. Having the chance to interview some of its amazing cast (ANGELA BASSETT! COME ON!!!) was an extremely relevant professional and personal experience for me.

Liam Payne // May 2018

Liam Payne's visit to Rio de Janeiro in May 2018 was to promote his single “Familiar”, and I had the lovely opportunity to talk to him about it, and also discuss his perspectives as a solo artist.

(And fangirl about One Direction because why not, right?)

Dua Lipa // November 2017

With fun questions, my interview with Dua Lipa was a delight! As an opening act for Coldplay 2017's world tour and with some side concerts of her own, it was the singer's first time in Brazil, and not only did our conversation address that but also her views on the music industry nowadays.

Niall Horan // October 2017

I had the chance to interview Niall Horan about his debut solo album Flicker during his first solo tour in Rio de Janeiro back in 2017. This was my first interview on video and the feedback – as seen on the YouTube comment section – was incredible, a fact that gave me even more opportunities and set off my journey as an entertainment reporter.
