Social Media
Producing and posting content for the company's Instagram was one of my major tasks during my year as a social media intern. The main goal was to always share the latest news with a very uncomplicated and succinct language/tone, as well as creating fun posts that resulted in organic engagement and sharing actions.
Original content
Papelpop's Instagram was filled with stiff and not constant posting before my employment, so as soon as I took charge of their Instagram account, I made sure to change that. Creating and developing original content was a form of attracting new followers and organic engagement.
Best Engaging Videos
Nowadays, Instagram sure does invest its platform on video content. But back in 2017, the only way to share video posts was by posting them on your feed, an action that was hardly accepted by an audience so used to photographic content only. The solution? Posting videos with interesting thumbnails and captions that either instigate the viewer to answer a question or share it with a friend.
Best Engaging Posts
What is the secret of a successful Instagram post? Is it the caption? Is it the image? During my experience as a social media intern, one thing that became clear to me is that if the image posted is self-explanatory in its current context, a lot of likes will most definitely happen. Once your audience is captivated by it, the caption needs to be its best possible compliment — it needs to be the final push for your audience to engage.
News
As an entertainment website Instagram account, most of the content posted on the platform was the latest news in an Instagram friendly way: with captivating images and titles in big bold letters and colors. Instagram Stories didn't yet exist during the extent of 2017 – when my internship took place –, so posting the most important daily news on the account's feed was the alternative. Engagement numbers never disappointed when both momentum and a great summary of a news story became one.
